The blackest sun and the brightest night
Come together in day’s last light
A heavy lightness fills the air
When distant nearness comes to bear
Now laughing at my greatest sorrow
Next weeping for my joy tomorrow
I threw myself headlong to chance
And gave my hand to fate this dance
While thus enslaved to freedom’s whim
I lost my will up in the wind
I know reason will take me far
I heard it say wish on a star
And this of all my hopes remain
That peace be had with fear’s long reign
